Eternity Ring Designs with 3 – 7 Gemstones

Author: Theodore Category: Jewelry

Basic eternity ring designs come in two general styles, those that are full and those that are half. Full eternity rings can have 30 or 40 or more gemstones, but half eternity rings don’t always have exactly half as many stones, in fact they may have 10 or fewer gems depending on several factors. The least expensive eternity ring designs that look great but cost less because they have fewer gems are the ones with 3 – 7 diamonds, CZs or other precious stones.

Unusual 3 Stone Eternity Rings

Technically the half eternity rings that have only three stones are called trilogy rings, but that isn’t always true if the three stones in question are baguette cut. What’s baguette cut? It’s a style of cutting gemstones that created a long narrow shape that resembles a baguette, yes, like the French bread. When three baguette diamonds or CZs are channel set into an a half eternity style, this will cover the entire top section of the ring and look like an eternity band. It makes for a an inexpensive way to have a band that looks like solid diamonds when in fact there are only 3.

Round Stones and Prong Set Half Eternity Rings

If you really want the stones to be round or individually set with prongs or in a bezel or channel setting, then you will need to choose at least 5 gems or diamonds or cubic zirconia to cover the top area. If you choose only 3 stones, in this case, it will give you a trilogy ring, and not an eternity band, especially if the gems are round or princess cut. Since this is not what you want, you can choose slightly smaller stones or alternate diamonds with another semi-precious gems to bring the cost down. You will need between 5 and 7 small stone to cover the top of the ring. Save money by choosing cubic zirconia but getting the setting in solid 14k gold, or titanium. You can find lots of these styles in the $100 to $200 range. If you go with diamonds the price will depend on the carat weight of each stone. You can get a 9 or 10k gold ring with 5 to 7 diamonds (some have 8) for about $250 to $300, whereas a the full eternity ring designs that have gems all around will cost at least $500 to $1,000 even for small, less than perfect gems.
