Most of us are pretty good at color-coordinating a silver necklace with our wardrobe. But some of us are not as savvy when it comes to silver necklace accessories. The tricky thing about accessories is that they are much more subjective than the jewelry itself. In other words, there are certain rules you should follow with respect to the colors and outfits you wear with your silver necklace. But in terms of which accessories you choose, it is more of an art than a science. Some women like to wear a silver necklace with a black purse and diamond earrings. But some women might prefer a grey purse and ruby earrings.
So if you are going to wear a silver necklace out on the town for dinner you should consider the following three principals. First, don't worry about the weather when it comes to your silver necklace or your other jewelry. Yes, you should dress appropriately (coat, pants, dress, no coat, etc.) but you should not pattern your jewelry after the weather. Second, consider the color of your purse or handbag. For some reason, people notice the way your jewelry coordinates or clashes with your jewelry. Third, if you are going to wear a silver necklace then you should not wear silver shoes or silver high heels. Coordinating your jewelry with your wardrobe is one thing, but making it look like you are trying to match colors is like trying to rhyme two sentences together. It just looks awkward.
So the next time you are out on the town, take a few minutes to see how some of the women are coordinating their necklaces, shoes, and purses/handbags. You may be able to pick up a few ideas or you may actually notice a few styles you want to avoid. Either way, make sure that you feel good about your choice of style.
