With the price of gold increasing almost every day more and more people are looking to alternatives. One of these is titanium. There are many benefits to owning a titanium ring besides the money you might save from the gold price. Few people have allergic reactions to titanium that to gold. It is also very lightweight and great for people who are not used to wearing jewelry or simply do not like the bulkiness of some types.
Titanium is very durable making it a great choice for everyday wear in things such as wedding bands. It is almost indestructible. Gold will wear down over the course of years; titanium shows little if any wear over the years. Titanium is no longer limited to simple bands either. It is now set with stones, teamed with gold (white or yellow) and die cut.
Titanium jewelry designers feel that it fits into the people's desire for a more modern, urban or contemporary jewelry design, especially in men's jewelry. Men's jewelry is also a growing market segment. One of the biggest uses for titanium presently is mens wedding bands because of these reasons along with its durability.
When it first came on the scene several years ago the jewelry pieces weren't really all that attractive having a gray gunmetal color. It sold but did have a very bland appearance. Time has improved it though to the point where it is in direct competition with gold and platinum. It is now available in a wide spectrum of colors and is three times stronger than steel. It is available in colors from purple, blue, and black to sunburst colors and the natural silver grade shade. The color effects are done through oxidation.
Of course, any piece of jewelry is a personal choice but titanium is attractive, cheaper, trendy and attention grabbing and definitely worth considering.
